District benchmarks
Days from application to permit for City of Austin building permits: the last 22 months by district, through October 19, 2026, and every year since 2021. Updated monthly.
Box = middle half of permits; whiskers = 10th to 90th percentile; line = median. Sorted fastest to slowest.
Every building permit the City issued from 2021 through 2025, 65,994 in all, by year issued. Lines: median and 90th-percentile days from application to permit. Bars: permits issued. Follows the job type chosen above.
Darker is slower. A dot means fewer than 20 permits that year. Districts are the City's current council districts for every year, so each row compares like with like. In District 2, many residential addition and remodel permits are mobile-home set-ups and decks, which the City issues within days.
Median and 90th percentile, by quarter issued.
